Anjuman-e-Hefazothe Islam: founding and framework in brief

Anjuman-e-Hefazothe Islam Bangladesh is a successful organisation of the Islahee programs of Kutbe-Dhawran Hazrat Moulana Shaykh Luthfur Rahman Bornobi (R.). From the very beginning this organisation has reached many districts of East Pakistan at that time. This was possible due to the talent, labour and efforts of Hazrat Bornobi (R.). Hefazothe Islam was born in 1948 at a village called Balikhandi under Moulibazar district. A seminar was then held at the Bondor Bazar Jami Mosjid of the city of Sylhet that all the Muslim Scholars (Ulamas) of the Sylhet division attended. The Hefazothe Islam was recognised there as a non-political Islamic Jamat (group) by all the prominent Muslim scholars, Masaeakhs, pious intellectuals and Islamic think tanks.

Moulana Luthfur Rahman Bornobi (R.) was selected as the Amir (President) of Hefazothe Islam. After taking on this responsibility Hazrat Bornobi (R.) started working in various regions to fulfil the agendas of Hefazothe Islam.

The respected Saint of India, Hazrat Moulana Ahmed Ali Bashkandi (R.), and a member of India’s national assembly Shaikhul Hadith Hazrat Moulana Abdul Jalil Badorpuri (R.) had expressed their full support to the Hefazothe Islam and made an open request to start working on the agendas of Hefazothe Islam everywhere.

The chief minister of Pakistan of that time Hazrat Moulana Mufti Mahmood (R.) and Hazrat Moulana Ghulamn Gous Hazorvi (R.) had supported the activities of Hefazothe Islam. Torzoman-e-Islam the Lahore based weekly of the time used the slogan:

“Pakistan may Hefazothe Islam ka Alam Border”

Without being involved in traditional politics, the organisation has invited men & women of all social levels to learn the essential matters of Deen. It has also undertaken measures which it deemed to be suitable for the time and undertaken steps to implement those measures. The Hefazothe Islam wants believers, irrespective of their background, to learn the most essential matters of Deen so that they may die as a Muslim and they may build a tight and collective brotherly bond amongst themselves. The Islahee activities of Hefazothe Islam, the Dawah and Tablig work at home and abroad in a well organised and excellent way with Jamia Luthfia, being central to all of this.
